The Chinese pick an auspicious date after the long Chinese New Year holdiay to commence business or work as it is believed to bring prosperity and smooth beginning.
Bring along with you sweets, cakes or cookies to share with colleagues to symbolize harmony and joyous relationship for the year. Many bosses distribute red packet also known as ang bao to staffs on the first day of commencement of business as a gratitude and encourage better performance in the New Year.
