Fu Dog for Protection

The Fu Dogs is a symbol of protection. It is commonly seen displayed at the front entrance of doors and gates. When pose in a pair, their power manifest. It is believed that the Fu Dogs is capable of warding off killing energy and prevent people with ill intentions from entering the house. In appearance the Fu Dogs look very similar to those of the lions but there are subtle differences.

Fu Dogs are frequently shown with the female holding a baby cub and the male Fu Dogs usually featured playing with the ball. Sometimes the Fu Dogs are shown playing and frolicking.

There are many different images and representations of Fu Dogs inside the palace compounds of the Forbidden City in Beijing. Fu Dogs were deemed excellent protectors of palaces and homes of the emperors, as opposed to lions being more appropriate for religious places. Thus, Fu Dogs are more suitable for homes and offices compared to many other fiery creatures for protection.

Choose Fu Dogs that differentiate between the male and female, and always place them with the male (the one holding the ball) on the left side of the door and the female on the other side. They should be placed fairly high up and not on the ground. They can be made of any material depending on the need of protection.

May all negative forces be away from you & your family!
