Overview of 2010
2010 is the Year of the White Tiger also known as the Year of “Geng Yin” in Chinese. “Geng” is the heavenly stem represented by metal and the colour white and “Yin” is the earthly branch which means Tiger and is represented by the wood element.
Base on the theory of the five elements, Metal and Wood clashes with each other. This symbolises trapped potentials and hidden danger.
The Yin is affiliated with the 1st lunar month and corresponds to the hour between 03:00 Hour to 04:59 Hour. In Feng Shui, ‘Yin’ is located at 52.5 to 67.5 degree in the Northeast.
The compatible zodiac sign with the Tiger are Dragon, Horse and the Dog. The conflicting signs are the Ox and the Monkey.
The Year of Tiger commences on 14th Feb 2010 and ends on 2nd Feb 2011. This entire year of the Tiger does not have any Li Chun or 1st solar term; hence, it is also called a blind year or a widow year.
This year of the Tiger is filled with uncertainties. The economy seems to be improving and financial reports appear positive. However, most regular Joes are unlikely to benefit from this impressive outlook. Spending power is in fact declining. This is a year of superficial glory underlining hardship and constrains.
On a brighter note, this year of the Tiger symbolises a new beginning. This is an ideal year to commence on new plans and for companies to go listed. This is also a year for a fresh start to the West. This means America will go through changes and reform in their policies and economy as well as go through changes in their government officials. Although there are signs of improvement in the West, the progress is insignificant. More beneficial outcome can be seen in 2011.
Europe and China will see recovery in their economy, whereas Southeast Asia, India and Japan may not perform as well as expected. There are many constrains that hinder the growth in these countries and Australia will not do well.
The wood industry will face aggressive competition. The industries that belong to the wood elements are carpentry, paper, printing, entertainment, arts and furniture. Only the strong will survive.
Among the five elements, industries that belongs to the water element will perform best (seafood, medical, drinks, aquarium, sea freight and biochemistry) then follow by the metal element industry.
This year of the Tiger brings health issues related to your mental and emotional well being. Stress is the main cause of ill mental health. Higher percentage of women will have gynaecological issues.
Due to the “Gua” of the clash elements of the pillar of destiny of the year, this year will see an increase in youth problems. Schools should place more emphasize on moral teaching.
There are devastating disasters that are cause by Wind although fire and earthquakes remain as the main threat in this year of the Tiger. Western Europe will encounter difficulties cause by Water.
