Spring Cleaning

A Time to Clear, Renew, and Invite Blessings

The period leading up to the Lunar New Year is the most auspicious time for spring cleaning. This sacred tradition is more than just sweeping and washing. It is a ritual of renewal. By removing old, stagnant energy and discarding what is broken or no longer needed, we make room for fresh Qi, new opportunities, and the blessings of the coming year.

In Chinese tradition, this act of cleansing helps to clear away the negative energy accumulated from the past year, allowing auspicious Qi to flow freely into your home or workplace. It marks the closing of one energetic chapter and the graceful beginning of another filled with vitality and hope.

✨ Traditional Practices and Preparation
To honour this meaningful custom, it is important to begin with proper tools and symbolic items:

New Cleaning Tools: Use fresh brooms, dusters, buckets, and cloths. These represent a clean start and ensure that no old energy is carried forward.

Pomelo Leaves: Tie pomelo leaves to your broom or duster when sweeping. You may also soak the leaves in water (with flowers if desired) to create a purifying solution for wiping down surfaces.

Pomelo Bath: After cleaning, take a bath infused with pomelo leaves to spiritually cleanse yourself and wash away lingering negativity.

✨ Direction of Cleaning
The direction of cleaning can follow your personal energy pattern for the year:

If the past year has been smooth and favorable, start from the main entrance and move inward, symbolizing prosperity entering your home.

If the year has been challenging, begin from the innermost part and move outward, to push away misfortune and invite fresh energy to flow in.

If you have recently moved into your home or business premise, it is best not to perform spring cleaning during this period, as the new energy has not yet settled.

Selecting Auspicious Dates
Choose your spring cleaning day according to the Chinese Almanac to align with Heaven’s timing. A few key points to note:

Avoid dates that clash with the zodiac signs of family members or staff.

Coordinate with household or workplace members to ensure all energies are in harmony.

Follow the auspicious starting hour to commence cleaning, though it is perfectly fine to continue over several days.

These selected dates are ideal for your spring cleaning ritual this year:
