Feng Shui - The Secret Key to Unlocking Life's Hidden Treasures and Riches

Li Chun

In the intricate tapestry of the Chinese calendar, the arrival of Li Chun, or立春, marks the onset of a new solar term, representing the vanguard of spring. This celestial event, observed when the Sun aligns precisely at the celestial longitude of 315°, not only signals the awakening of nature but also signifies the commencement of the Chinese year in the traditional Hsia calendar.

Popularly known as Da Chun, this day holds a peculiar tradition — according to folklore, it's the only few days when eggs can be balanced on their ends, adding a touch of whimsy to the celebration. Falling on either the 3rd or 4th of February in the Gregorian calendar, Li Chun symbolizes the first step in the sexagenary cycle, ushering in a change in the zodiac sign for the year.

Li Chun is a significant solar term, it doesn't coincide with the Chinese New Year, which is celebrated based on the Lunar calendar. The first day of the Lunar calendar, known as 大年初一 (Da Nian Chu Yi), officially marks the Chinese New Year.

In the upcoming year, 2024, Li Chun falls on the 4th of February, aligning with the Lunar 25th day of the last month of the Year of the Rabbit, just preceding the Lunar Year of the Dragon. This results in a phenomenon known as a blind year 盲年, a widow year 寡妇年, or a sliding year 滑年, as there is no Li Chun in the Year of the Dragon. Tradition holds that a year without Li Chun is considered inauspicious for marriages.

According to the Spring Cow Diagram in the Chinese almanac for the year, forebodings loom on the horizon. Unfavorable weather patterns are predicted, with continuous spring and summer rains leading to successive floods. The almanac foresees a protracted, dry, and cold winter, coupled with severe autumn drought. Harvests are anticipated to be halved, domestic farm animals may face disasters, and the cost of living is expected to rise. However, the market for luxurious products is predicted to thrive.

Amidst these cosmic dynamics, Feng Shui principles offer a beacon of guidance. Lighting up the north corner of your living space on Li Chun day to infuse new energy and elevate the auspicious vibrations. Let's seize the chance to harmonize our homes and workplaces with positive Qi. May this alignment bring forth abundance and positive transformations in the year ahead.
